ABOUT THE PROJECT
A MALL IS A BUILDING OR SET OF BUILDING FORMING A COMPLEX OF SHOPS REPRESENTING MERCHANDISERS, WITH INTERCONNECTING WALKWAYS OR EXCLUSIVE PEDISTRIAN'S STREETS, THAT MAKE IT EASY FOR SHOPPERS TO WALK FROM STORE WITHOUT INTERFERENCE FROM VEHICULAR TRAFFIC.
SHOPPING MALLS ATTRACT MY ATTENTION BECAUSE OF THEIR FUNCTIONAL VARIETY, FIRST OF ALL I AM NOT A "SHOPPING ENTHUSIAST", PEOPLE LIKE TO VISIT SHOPPING MALLS NOT FOR SHOPPING BUT FOR SOME OTHER REASONS ALSO, NOW A DAYS MOSTLY TO OBSERVE. IN DIFFERENT HOURS OF DAY AND DAYS OF WEEK, THAT PEOPLE VISIT SHOPPING MALL FOR DIFFIRENT ACTIVITIES. FOR EXAMPLE AN OLD COUPLE COMES TO SHOPPING MALL FOR JUST MOVING AROUND FOR PASSING THEIR TIME. ANOTHER TIME, OBESRVED AN EMPLOYER DOING MEETING IN MALL AND SOMETIME PEOPLE USE PARKING LOT, IT IS FREE AND SAFE.
INTERESTING DILEMMA THAT SHOPPING MALLS ARE PROFIT-ORIENTED PRIVATE PROPERTIES, ON THE OTHER HAND ONE CAN SPEND A WHOLE DAY IN IT WITHOUT DOING ANY SHOPPING. SO THAT'S WHY SHOPPING MALLS ARE NEW PUBLIC SPACES.
SHOPPING MALLS BECOME PUBLIC MAGNETS. PEOPLE LIKE TO SPEND THEIR LEISURE TIME AT SHOPPING MALLS. THOUGH THE SHOPPING MALLS ARE MOSTLY EXPECTED AS URBAN PUBLIC SPACES.
-AIM TO STUDY ON PUBLIC REALM, PUBLIC SPACES, & URBANITY-URBAN GRAIN, URBAN FABRIC ETC. AND THEIR INTERACTION WITH SHOPPING MALL DESIGN CONCEPTS.
-TO STUDY, UNDERSTAND, ANALYZE AND DEVELOP A MULTIPLE COMMERCIAL HUB, WHICH FORMS AN ICON OF CITY WHICH FULFILLS THE RECREATIONAL AS WELL AS COMMERCIAL NEEDS OF SOCIETY IN THE FORM OF A SHOPPING MALL.
-TO ACCENTUATE ON CAMPUS PLANNING IN TERMS OF ZONING OF BUILDINGS, LANDSCAPE, SERVICES ETC.
